I removed the phone from my ear, placed my thumb on the red button, and just as I was about to press it, I heard on the other line ‘I love you.’



I pushed the button with as much force I could use. I continually pressed it, over and over, as if it would make everything better. I wanted the pain to go away, but it didn’t. I felt so many different emotions at once. I couldn’t contain it. I just bursted into tears.
